🖤 Write Like a Witch No. 3
What You’re Growing in the Dark
A spell for beginnings that no one else can see yet.
Last week, we wrote to the Sun
about the parts of ourselves that were visible, radiant, aching to be named.
This week, we turn inward.
To the quiet. To the dark. To what’s still forming.
On July 24th, we meet the New Moon.
You don’t have to care about astrology for this to mean something.
The new moon is just the part of the cycle no one can see a natural pause, a beginning underground.
And that’s the spell this week:
To name what you’re growing quietly, before the world sees it.
🌑 This Week’s Prompt
What are you growing that’s not ready to be revealed yet?
Maybe it’s a change in direction.
A desire you haven’t spoken.
A version of yourself that doesn’t fit your current life but might soon.
You don’t have to know how it ends.
You don’t even need to be sure it’s real yet.
This isn’t about getting it “right.”
This is about letting the uncertain part of you speak anyway.
🔥 A Ritual to Begin
You don’t need candles or incense or moon water.
But you can have a moment. A pause. A breath.
Try this:
• Dim the lights, or just close your eyes.
• Take one slow breath. Then another.
• Whisper (yes, out loud):
“Under this new moon, I begin.”
Then write.
Even if you don’t know what you’re trying to say.
Even if it feels strange or half-formed.
That’s the point.
Let something unnamed have five minutes of your attention.
It might surprise you.
🕯 Share Your Spell
If something comes through and you want to share it:
• Post it in the comments
• Send it to me directly (whisper-style)
• Or tag your writing on Instagram or TikTok with #WriteLikeAWitch
This isn’t about performance.
It’s about practice.
It’s about making room for the parts of you that need time, not applause.
Next week we’ll write the next spell together.
But for now
Begin where no one can see you.
With warmth + wildfire,
Dianne

Hi, found your site through Dawn, thanks for the inspiration here is my contribution ❤️https://poetisatinta.wordpress.com/2025/07/22/it-begins/
CALLING ALL GIRLS "ORDINARY"?
If Beauty is found in the "Ordinary"
Why signify "Ordinary" Ordinary?
Is there Ordinary Beauty,
Or just Beauty, that is "Ordinary"?
Why claim Beauty to behold
If the non-event, being "Ordinary"
Is a disclaimer to telling
what is needed to be known.
Any thoughts? That fourth line of the first stanza says pretty much the same as the third, I think. Not really getting it.
Kind regards Andrew
